On November 1, 2014, as part of her trade mission to China, Huawei Canada was pleased to
welcome Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne to Huawei Beijing R&D facility, and used the occasion
of her visit to announce a significant new investment in Ontario. Over the next five years,
Huawei will invest an additional $210 million into Huawei Canadian operations. This investment
will create an additional 325 new jobs, and will double Huawei current R&D workforce. Huawei
are hopeful this commitment will serve to further reinforce Canada’s leadership in the ICT
industry, and Canada’s ICT ecosystem.
In addition to Huawei direct investment in Canada research, development and operations,
Huawei are also proud to be launching “Telecom Seeds for the Future” program that will bring
20 Canadian engineering students annually to China for hands-on work experience and cultural
exposure as part of a two-week work study program in Shenzhen and Beijing. Huawei is excited
to be supporting Canada’s future engineers and look forward to launching the first tour in the
spring of 2015.
Huawei is committed to ICT in Canada, and looks forward to great things to come in the years
ahead to build Huawei business in Canada.
